Community Guidelines

1. Our Standard

DormSweep is built on trust between students. Every user is expected to act honestly, respectfully, and in good faith.

2. What Is Not Allowed

Users may not:

• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users.
• Scam or defraud other users.
• Impersonate other students or misrepresent identity.
• Submit fraudulent or misleading listings.
• Spam other users through messaging or listings.
• Abuse the reporting or dispute system.
• Circumvent platform protections, payment systems, or the handoff confirmation process.
• List or sell prohibited items.
• Violate applicable law or campus policy.

3. Honest Listings

• Describe items accurately with photos that reflect current condition.
• Price items fairly without fake urgency or manipulation.
• Do not create duplicate listings for the same item.
• Remove listings once an item is sold outside the platform.
• Do not list items you do not own or do not intend to sell.

4. Safe Meetups

• Meet in public, well-lit areas on campus when possible.
• Confirm item details before meeting.
• Be on time and communicate promptly if you are running late.
• Do not share personal home addresses with strangers.

5. Transactions

• Follow through on confirmed purchases.
• Do not back out of transactions without communicating.
• Do not submit false or bad-faith disputes.
• Complete the handoff process honestly and accurately.
• Repeated buyer or seller no-shows may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from DormSweep.

6. Account Integrity

• Only create one account.
• Do not share your account with others.
• Do not use bots, scripts, or automated tools on the platform.

7. Enforcement

Violations may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. Serious violations including fraud, harassment, or illegal activity may be reported to campus authorities or law enforcement.
